The incessant crying of a child for about 10 hours up to 1am Monday prompted a disturbed neighbour to take action, resulting in the rescue of a six-year-old girl locked up alone at her flat in Jalan Perak here.
/ _- }4 K! o! b: wtvb now,tvbnow,bttvbThe neighbour, who declined to be identified, said she heard the girl crying from about 3pm Sunday.

% V2 E# D, F6 x- a( L8 B A police spokesman said a team of policemen and Social Welfare Department personnel rushed to the flat Monday morning and forced their way in to see a frightened girl with injuries on her hands, legs and body, apparently the result of physical abuse.公仔箱論壇5 l0 k% P! o- U3 F6 I! c
She had been left alone at the flat by her father, who was spotted by neighbours returning to the housing estate but fled when he noticed policemen at his flat.5.39.217.765 H- q o& B5 S' F
Police tried in vain to contact the family of the girl, who was taken to Penang Hospital for an examination of the injuries.

He said police were trying to trace the girl's father, who is in his 30s, to help in the investigation.
